Welcome to BUFFthon

Dance for kids like Zach

BUFFthon, a dance marathon at CU on Oct. 27, is a student-run event to raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals benefiting Children's Hospital Colorado.

When you dance or donate in honor of a dancer, you support kids like Zach.

For the first several months of Zachary's life, his parents and pediatrician were not sure what to make of his challenges. He did not have the expected reactions to stimulus, like hands clapping, and he couldn't sit up on his own.

When Zach was about 9 months old, his pediatrician referred him to Children's Hospital Colorado where doctors and therapists diagnosed him with left hemiplegic cerebral palsy.

Zach began receiving extensive treatment for his feeding issues, physical capabilities and seizures. Through careful care and medication, Zach's seizures were controlled, and he began to gain weight.

By the time he was 8 years old, Zach was working closely with the Gait Lab and took an interest in skiing. He became a Hospital Sports Program regular. As a 12-year-old, he started skiing and snowboarding competitively. He may have additional challenges ahead, but Zach's early start at Children's Colorado has allowed him all the opportunities he has ahead of him today.
